Joyce Kubik, Certified Master Coach, ADHD Coach, Trainer

Joyce A. Kubik, is an internationally recognized ADHD coach, Certified Master Coach, and skills trainer. Founder and President of Bridge to Success, she is the author of four books and a DVD series that aid in managing ADHD. She published the ground-breaking study on ADHD Coaching — Efficacy of ADHD coaching for adults with ADHD (JAD 2010).

For more than 25 years, Joyce coached people of all ages from all walks of life. She has presented throughout Ohio and at conferences nationwide. As a pioneer in ADHD, her expertise is well-known and well-respected. In Unraveling ADHD,  J. Russell Ramsay, Ph.D., and licensed psychologist — points out that her memoir is about “the creation of ADHD Coaching through the life story of one of its earliest and most skilled practitioners.”

Never done before! Joyce developed and taught a college-level course for students with ADHD. In this 3-credit, 16-week course, students were coached on what it meant to live with ADHD. They learned specific strategies for managing their ADHD in the college setting, such as ways to control their different thought processes, control procrastination, manage anxiety, and, most importantly, understand and incorporate time management into their daily lives. By learning to take ownership of their ADHD, they succeeded in their studies without dropping out in the first year because of frustrations.

My name is Joyce Kubik.

I have ADHD.

I’ve had it all my life.

I didn’t know I had it until I was 50 years old.

It affects me … every… day.

But I’ve turned my greatest deficit into my greatest asset.

Now, I’m in control.

I no longer live with frustration, anger, and guilt.

I see ADHD as a positive force that I can control from the inside.

I no longer allow ADHD to get the better of me or control me.

In my early years, I failed out of college twice. At the age of 50 I went back, but this time with the mindfulness needed to manage the internal confusions and external distractions that did me in earlier. I graduated in May 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and another in (Health) Communications. My first-hand knowledge of living with ADHD and my education led me to develop the skills and structures that help adults, college students, and families succeed in managing their ADHD. It was time to give back!

In 1998, I created a business that coached individuals to succeed. Because I lived with untreated ADHD, it became a passion of mine to change the lives of those with ADHD so they didnt have to suffer as I did. Now, I want to pass those tools and methods on to educators, disability services, and others who work with this community. Those with ADHD need to learn to be themselves and believe in all they have to offer their communities and more. ADHD coaching is an impactful and reliable approach to living well with ADHD.

THANKS FOR YOUR PROFOUND EFFECT

Last semester I was in your General Studies class. I want to thank you for everything you taught us, it had a profound effect on my completing last semester. I finished with a 3.8 GPA, six A’s and one B. The previous semester I had only taken three classes and was unable to cope with the struggles of my ADD. Your Plan for Success planner was a key factor in my success last semester. Without it I could not have achieved the grades I received last term.

PLANNER MAKES MY LIFE SMOOTHER

Since taking the program I have been approaching tasks with a positive attitude. I check my planner more often. As a result, my life feels smoother and at the end of the day I have a feeling of accomplishment, not guilt.
